Michael is a master teacher who explains complex topics in simple ways. The videos are top notch and the downloadable materials serve as quick reference as you progress.

Guitargate 3.0 great lessons from a great instructor

I’ve used Michael’s Guitargate courses for a few years now. I love his approach to teaching the instrument and music. With the addition of the Teleport and the new Teleport 101 course this is even better. The way he breaks down the song parts and gets you thinking about it is a great idea. It really gets the creative juices flowing.

The instructors in his masterclass section are top notch. Something for everyone here.

Ran axcross Michael's course on Truefire, and was hooked on the presentation and clarity of his explanations.

Michael is a great teacher and an even better human being, authentic as all get out and entirely relateable.

The courses are a great step by step guide for all those starting guitar, and contain a wealth of information and ideas for those more proficient on the instrument. A veritable smorgasbord from which to taste and dine.

My one wish is that Michael would produce a course taking a deep dive into how to develop your ear and follow the vocal melody lines of a song. There has to be an easy way than just hunt and peck.

What if I've never played with anyone? What if I don't feel comfortable sharing my playing?

You are in great company. for 13 years, Guitargate has been the safest and most positive guitar community on the internet. Negativity is NEVER tolerated, but frankly - it never happens, either. You'll find thousands of people to jam with, of all styles and levels. you're guaranteed to find people that you fit with. And if you don't want to post, you don't have to!

Can I just take the lessons? Or do I have to upload, too?

Of course! Uploading is always up to you. Thousands of members choose to just learn and not engage - BUT - if you do decide to "hit the button" and upload something, you will feel really really proud of yourself, and you'll want to keep doing it :)

What kind of schedule should I expect?

Great question. Each week you'll get a new song lesson and a live masterclass opportunity. We recommend that you take the step-by-step course lessons at your own pace, and choose the song and masterclass lessons that interest you. Do not feel like you have to do them all! It's your journey, and we don't want to make you feel overloaded!
